Hello!
I did a report for Eater on Alison Roman’s new pantry store in Bloomville, NY. Check it out here! Fun fact, the store is 17 minutes from the house and community garden of a demolition and real estate tycoon who is the father of the actor who played Nate’s father in a flashback episode of Euphoria.

And Speaking of Alison Roman I made her Pork and Red Chili Pozole with Cabbage for 5 hours last weekend and ate it for 4 days. It was delish! The funny thing is that I saw a version of this recipe in her first cook book and never made it because in the photo it looked like it had CORN from the proverbial cob which I do not like. I am the least picky eater in the world but the only things I don’t like are corn and Oreos. Anyway, but it turns out it wasn’t just corn in the photo it was hominy, also called posole, which is technically corn (a different variety than regular corn) but tastes way better and is more like the texture and density of a bean. So it turns out I love hominy but not corn even though hominy is also corn. To help illustrate I have enlisted the use of a meme as a pedagogical tool.
Ok also new NYC restaurant recommendations here!
Cecily | Greenpoint
New spot for small bites. Everything we had here was a hit. We had oysters, fluke crudo, pimentón fritters, the chicory salad, and the ginger honeycomb semifreddo.
Gordo’s Cantina | Bushwick
Really delicious burritos with no rice that they call burritas. Flour tortillas with refried bean spread, chihuahua cheese, pico de gallo and choice of meat or non-meat filling.
Libertine | West Village
French bistro where the Lobster Chou Farci with basil oil is absolute heaven.
Sarisa Cafe | Midtown East
Thai dessert cafe in Midtown. I did the afternoon tea which came with jasmine tea and a handful of colorful delectable treats.
